Why is request delete packages required?
I have asked this in the forums but have had no response. I'm wondering why Firefox now requires the permission "Request delete packages"? Given it already has the "Query all packages" permission (I also wonder why it needs that), does this mean it can now delete all my apps? Why does it need this as I'm at a loss to understand the necessity for a web browser to need this permission.

Hi John,
I found this relevant comment in the current AndroidManifest.xml file:
Needed to prompt the user directly for app uninstallation as part of an 'uninstall survey' experiment. This is ONLY used to uninstall the Firefox application.
So it was (is?) used for an experiment. By the way this does not mean, that it could delete apps on a whim if it wanted to. DELETE_PACKAGES would be needed for that, while REQUEST_DELETE_PACKAGES can only make a request to show you a popup to ask if you'd like to remove something.
