incomplete error messages
I'm using TB 78.6.1 on Mac OS 10.11.6. Thunderbird works very well for me, but there are a couple of annoyances I'd like to resolve. Here's one. When Thunderbird gives me an error, the error is way up in the upper right corner of the screen, and cut off! So I get something like ...
Thunderbird Could not do this or that because ....
which tells me NOTHING I need to know. How to I see complete error messages? If Thunderbird is trying to tell me something, it's not doing a very good job of doing so.

You rebuild the layout by performing the steps provided. This sometimes corrects issues such as the size and position of various windows and error messages.

I don't know why the error window is unreadable, but suggest you look at Tools/Developer Tools/Error Console to see if the error message is visible.
Thanks. That's possible, but that Error Console just seems to have stuff in it from the last few hours. I'm talking about a problem I had yesterday.
You could try rebuilding the layout and see if the error displays correctly: Help/Restart with add-ons disabled, at the safe mode prompt "reset toolbars and controls", "make changes and restart".
How do you rebuild the layout and, in particular, how do you tell it where to put error messages?

OK, thanks. I'll see if that helps, next time I see a TB error message.
