Just a suggestion for Thunderbird updates

I didn't realize I had auto-update turned on in Thunderbird. Ordinarily this wouldn't be a problem. However, this time it was: I now cannot sync Caldav/Carddav settings from my email provider because the latest update breaks certain types of plugin.

Now I get that Thunderbird cannot possibly be held accountable for breaking plugins, the world has to move forwards.

But it would be really nice (and here's the suggestion) if Thunderbird actually gave a warning that an update is going to break plugins. And a way to cancel the update.

That would make life a whole lot easier for people like me who are dependent upon a plugin for Caldav/Carddav.

Now I have to spend time uninstalling TB78 then reinstalling TB60x and seeing if it'll retain configuration from last version.

TBsync does caldav and carddav and works with Thunderbird 78. THe calendar component also independently supports caldav calendars.

So perhaps there are more way to get you functional an going backwards through the molasses that doing so put you. (waste of a day in my case and I still had no contacts.)

I tried that on a clean install of TB78 but the settings page wasn't available in any of the menus. I spent a full 20 minutes going through everything.

Thankfully uninstall/reinstall of TB60x has worked fine and took 5 mins.

And I've disabled auto updates. Once bitten and all that >.<

Thanks for the repy @matt :)
