After many succesful years using Thunderbird suddenly the update 5.18.0 (64-bit and reporting as supposedly up to date) ) has completely lost all my folders and screwed up my email accounts!! I've been having an absolutely ghastly time for weeks trying to make sense of it and just feel like junking it...HELP! My email accounts that have been working successfully without problem for many years now sometimes send and not receive or the other way round, not send but receive. Additionally I cannot access critical and important emails (serious medical, legal and personal). I tried to change the staus of the accounts from POP to IMAP and ...lo and behold, the program does not allow it!?!? Why the hell not?

Thunderbird ver 115.18.0, on a Win7 machine, upgrading not an option

When opening Thunderbird I get a sign-in message, inserting my email address and clicking the next button I get the google error message.

After a long explanation, I tried to add a file and lost everything. Starting over! After using TB for over 30 years, I accumulated a large number of personal folders to archive files to. Due to confusion on my part about pass words in Proton Mail and their Bridge, I had to reinstall my ProtonMail account into Thunderbird. Because all my personal folders were connected with the old "account" name, I didn't remove it, and the new addition seemed to be working fine.

After doing some house cleaning to remove duplicate and obsolete files, I wanted to move the folders attached to the old account name, under the new name. I thought I could carefully move my personal folders from the old account, back under the new Protonmail account. Sadly, that doesn't work like that. What I did find was that the original folders which come under the original "account", were created with an older version of TB, which put them in a folder on my HD. But the new default folders ("inbox", "draft", "sent" etc.) are mirrors of the Protonmail Bridge, which is NOT what I want.

So I need someone that knows how to either place the old folders back under the NEW "account", or how to create new folders that ARE on the HD, and then move the files from one place to the other.

Just to help clarify, here's the location of the old folders as per the "properties" info.

You can see the address for this folder is on my Drive E: I can go directly to that address on my drive E and see each of the files.

This folder is from the NEW account of Protonmail - bridge, and is obviously the web address of Protonmail. It is NOT editable, unlike the above location on my HD E:.

Any help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated, gshantz

This just started today. I am seeing question marks between the sentences in my messages. I had this issue a number of years ago and do not remember the fix. I am running the latest version on my Windows 7 desktop. It is just the new messages not the older ones in file.

Anyone remember the fix?

This past week I started having a problem accessing URL's embedded in my emails from the Thunderbird interface. When clicking on the URL reference, nothing happens. I have not changed anything in my settings recently. Running Windows 7. I know my email server is working since this works when using my AT&T mail handler. I did have an issue with a Trojan virus that was cleared up with Malware program (i hope). I checked all the parameters of my mail handler and saw nothing that might cause this problem.

Since reinstalling Thunderbird and Firefox, When i get an email in my Thunderbird email listing, clicking a link does not open it so I have to copy it and open it in Firefox.

Cannot send emails from Thunderbird to a Yahoo server. Receiving emails from this server is working. There are several options for configuring the connection to this SMTP server. Server name, port number, user name, authentication method (ie OAuth2), connection security (using SSL/TLS). There is also a password required. When I try to send a message to this server, I get a login failure with options to reset my password. Since I had a working configuration, I retrieved the password from that and tried to reset it. That did not fix this problem. I am not sure if this is a sign in issue or a missmatch of the configuration parameters. I have tried several combinations of those with no success. This server is on a Yahoo machine that reserves ports for AT&T service. If I use the Yahoo interface for email, that will work, possibly because it is going into different ports on the Yahoo machine or my sign on with them is easier to establish. I prefer the Mozilla email handler to the Yahoo/AT&T handler, so I hope I can get it working again.

When I opened Thunderbird two days ago it came up with the following message: To use your current email address, fill in your credentials. Thunderbird will automattically search for working and recommended server configurations. It asked for Full Name; Email: and Password. Fearing it was a scam I filled in my server settings manually. My server is Centurylink but my email address is embarqmail.com so when I filled in my info the send was smpt.centurylink.net port 587 (which was fine) The problem was with receive: I guess my old setup was pop.embarqmail.com port 110 and I put in pop.centurylink.net port 995 which is what Centurylink's website called for. Well this one worked and it downloaded 800 messages but no saved folders and the Thunderbird screen layout looks different from the one I am used to. A few minutes later the pop.embarqmail setup downloaded the same messages but still no saved messages. It looks like I have 2 profiles. Did the last one I entered override the old and wipe out files I had stored. Is there a fix for this mess I have created and can I retreive my old folders and messages? I tried doing a system restore and it didn't work due to corrupted files. Oh, I'm still using windows 7. Thanks

After a re-install of Thunderbird the Message List does not appear in columns, and there is no label bar at the top of the Message List to allow sort by date, sender, topic, etc.

How do I get the Message List to appear in column format again?

Running "Mozilla Thunderbird v115.18.0 (64-bit)" on my Windows 7 laptop. I want the Inbox to display "Headers" such as "Date", "Size", etc. But I cannot seem to make this happen. Please help me. Thank you, Ron

How to filter all incoming emails to copy to another folder?

Filter has no "on incoming" criteria, only

Subject
From
Date
Size

I want "upon arrival", copy to ... Archive will probably do.

Alternatively, is there a setting for ALL Subjects, ALL Froms, ALL Dates, ALL sizes?

This just happened today. I'm using Windows 7 and Thunderbird version 115.18.0 (32-bit) . No settings have been changed and, there have been no problems signing in to my accounts until today. (I have a few accounts handled by Tbird.) The Microsoft sign in window comes up for me to sign in but there is no longer an option to sign in with your password so, I can't sign in and use my accounts in Tbird. I did click on "other ways to sign in" but no "sign in with password" there either.

P.S. Wow. Crazy stuff. I closed Tbird and reopened it and, the previous Microsoft sign in window came up with the option to: "sign in with password". I am assuming it was fixed by restarting Tbird. Anyhow, "back i business" again.

I am unable to access my mails on Greenby with Thunderbird and I suspect the password is incorrect. I can read my mails on the Greenby server and know the necessary password but cannot work out how to enter this into Thunderbird! As I am no expert, a simple guide would be most appreciated! Hi. My main email address was accidently removed. All my previous emails are stored locally thanks to Thunderbird IMAP syncing up to now. I'm currently in touch with my ISP in order to restore my email address. This will be done in a few days : I am going to get my email address back, but all the emails on the servers will not be restored. Therefore, when the server is restored, it will be empty.

I fear that when it's done, during the next IMAP sync, my Thunderbird will delete all local emails.

What can I do to prevent that, or circumvent it ? I would like for the local state to be uploaded to the server, not the distant state to delete everything locally.

I've been using TB for many years, and without warning, when it tries to down load my mail from the Proton mail server, it says it can't find the folder "Inbox". I've tried to "repair" that folder a couple times unsuccessfully. I've restarted the TB program a couple times, but nothing changes. The error shows up on the bottom "instruction line". I've gone through all my settings and find nothing amiss. Not sure where to go from here. -- Just noticed that I had about 80 emails in that Inbox folder that are now missing completely. Normally, I move read emails to there respective folders, and leave important ones in the Inbox for followup. One significant note here, is I'm still using Win 7 premium. I've used TB for many years, and keep it up to date. But it suddenly stopped downloads from my email server. Normally everything comes into my Inbox folder and after reading, they are either put into their respective folders or deleted. I had maybe 60 or 70 retained for later attention. (Like due pymnts)

I've tried everything I know, even the mail server connection, but somewhere in the process, I lost everything that was saved in the "Inbox" folder. I got to looking for the profile file, and only found 1 that was recently dated. Not sure if a rebuild would be advisable. Nearly all my (50+) folders show up as normal. Just can't find why the Inbox isn't recognized.

I tried using TB in both safe mode and troubleshoot mode, to no effect. I DO have win 7 Ultimate and hasn't ever been a problem. The error message I get is: "The mail server for account ***** responded with 'mailbox INBOX does not exist!' The name of the folder is "Inbox" as opposed to the capitalized version, but nothing has changed for years, and never been a problem. Go figure??

After _years_ of use and storage, I'm really hurting without it. Any help or suggestions would sure be appreciated. gshantz

I'm planning to change my email provider and during the transition period I need to have the old and new accounts running concurrently. The help article states:

".....you can create additional profiles, each with their own set of account configurations, messages, etc. (Note, each profile can access multiple email accounts''.) .

but I can't see how this would work. If anyone can explain in simple terms how to achieve this, or point me to the relevant information I should be most grateful.
