Suddenly today Thunderbird requires that I input my email password before it can connect and send an email. I have checked the box "remember password" and restarted Thundebird, but it will still ask for the password. I have checked under the security settings to display password and my password is there, but for some reason Thunderbird has just decided not to use the information that it has. I run Windows 8 and have not added any new software or performed any updates besides automatic anti-virus updates. Is there any way to get Thunderbird to go back to the way it was and not require a password everytime I restart it. I have no interest in establishing a master password. Thank you to anyone who can provide an answer.

Thanks for the suggestion sfhowes. I found a fix from another discussion that suggested deleting the password from the options-security and then reentering it with the remember password checked. It's concerning that the passord file could become corrupted, but I guess that's how it goes.

The other aspect of TB I find odd is that the only way I can access the toolbar for tools and other options is to start TB in safe mode. When I start TB normally the toolbar is nowhere to be found.
