Firefox tries to update but won't load
I have a macbook 5,1 intel core 2 duo. Intel Core 2 duo 2.4 GHz
It's been loading Firefox just fine but for the last week it can't load the Firefox update though it tries daily.

If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the disk image (dmg) file to the desktop
- Firefox 7.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
- Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
- Install the new version that you have downloaded
Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data.
Okay, so the dmg is on the desk top. I dragged it to the apps folder because I couldn't get it to do anything that looked like an install. Is that an actual install? Then I tried to trash the dmg from the desktop but couldn't because it's in use. Do I have to leave the dmg on the desktop even though I have the new version in the dock? Thanks.
