Ad-Aware will shutdown my PC unexpectedly.... Done so TWICE today..... Why?

While I was using my PC offline, it suddenly shutdown. After a reboot, I got a blue screen that stated there was a problem with Ad-Aware and my PC was shutdown. About 20 minutes later, it happened again, except that the blue screen only flashed and the PC rebooted. It has now been about 45 minutes since that all happened. I'm not sure if its Firefox, Ad-Aware or the Norton software I've recently installed. Until these incidents, I've almost never had a problem with ANY Mozilla product dating back to Netscape's original browser and I use Firefox exclusively for most online use. I do not, ever, trust Internet Explorer online.

Using two security programs (Norton and Ad-Aware) on the same machine is not a good idea. Decide which of the two you want to use and then uninstall the other one.

If the machine won't boot to the desktop in normal mode, try restarting in Safe Mode. To do that, reboot and immediately after the system logo disappears, hit the F8 key a few times in quick succession to launch the Windows XP Advanced menu. Then use the arrow keys to select "Start Windows in Safe Mode" and hit Enter. You can uninstall either of them via Add/Remove Programs.

If you can't boot into Safe Mode either, repeat the same steps, but choose Last Known Good Configuration. This will load Windows XP the last time it worked properly i.e. before you made changes by updating. Then remove either app via Add/Remove Programs.
