I am trying to translate a pdf with Japanese writing in it, but the browser wont recognize or translate it.

I am using an online site to view PDFs of books. One that I am looking at is written in Japanese. But the writing is in some cases hand written on the pages, and not recognized as text by the browser. Yes, I am aware that I can take a screenshot, or maybe even a few pages worth of pdfs and then use google translate, I haven't figured out how many pdfs make a file "too big" yet, and I will eventually go this route if I get invested enough. But isn't there a way to have the browser simply recognized the text written in the pdf image as japanese, and translate it as I view it? Or, failing that, I've heard about a magic window you can move around kinda like a zoom lense that translates all language of one sort into a language of your choosing as you move the window over that part of the page.... but after looking around a bit, I'm having trouble figuring that out. Does anyone know how to do that at least? Or I'm open to any helpful suggestions that might be useful in the scenario I described here. I can't be the only one interested in texts written in other languages. I mean, what about the manga community? That's exactly where this would be relevant. Personally I am probably the biggest manga reader I know, but my interest in this case stems from wanting to read the text in origami diagrams. I'm leaving this because my kitten is being a pain in the ass and swatting my hands whenever i try to type and I'm already bordering on TMI so what say you Firefox forum people? end transmission.
