Accessibilty denied constantly by firefox and ui changes.
Greetings, I am on the spectrum with aspergers. I have issues with organization, lining up objects, etc, but I am highly intelligent and present well. I have no doubt society is aware of all the tropes that surround folks with my......difference. I have an incredibly hard dealing with change, and it sometimes wrecks my mental health. The changes are constantly throwing my health and welfare for a loop, and it is really harmful.
Everytime I get firefox setup to where I am comfortable, something new gets shoved down my throat. How to stop the constant feature change diarrhea abuse is inflicting on my health? Recent example. I only use 2 search engines, and I cant deal with the rest, its a colour thing sorry. I have had my search engines set up like this for 14 years.
Recently, firefox decided that I should go for another life rollercoaster, even though I didn't ask for it, and that I should permanently have things like history bookmarks tabs and actions as search engines, and they shouldn't be removable.
I don't have a history, as I value my privacy. I don't have bookmarks, because I remember everything and it sucks, and I type about 350 wpm. Tabs information is within history, so I see firefox as duplication idiots in this case, and I don't do any actions, not even sure what they are and I really don't care at all.
My parents are considering a lawsuit against firefox for accessibility issues like this, as 1 of my dad's best friends is an accessibility lawyer.
How can i stop firefox from constantly flipping my autism world upside down? I don't want my parents to sue them because it will bring a lot of attention on me.
Please help me re-normalize the internet for spectrum users.

Thanks for the support Firefox
clapham.o, you might want to look into the Extended Support Release (ESR) version of Firefox. It maintains up-to-date security and bugfixes, but only adds new features once a year or so. People can use this edition if they would prefer the Firefox features and UI etc. to remain stable and consistent for much longer periods.
The ESR version of Firefox can be found here: https://www.firefox.com/download/all/desktop-esr/

I appreciate your response TechHorse, but this just delays the same problems 1000s are looking to address. The fact that this continues after 30+ years indicates to me that a lawsuit is nessecary to wake up Mozilla.

Isn't accessibility all about designing products so that they are easily accessible?
These things: history, bookmarks, tabs and actions are obviously removable. See the following picture:
Im sorry, TyDraniu, are you implying these things can be removed by unchecking a box? I can assure that isn't the case. What you are showing is where you allow suggestions to be made, as a top 10 contributor, you should know that.
Im going to have to use the courts.
clapham.o, what would be your wish for Firefox?
Should it never add new features or change UI elements at all? And so pretty much still be Firefox v1.0 but with modern security updates?
Or is it OK for Firefox to change every now and again, but this must be at a slower change rate than even the once per year offered by ESR?
Or should it maintain multiple different feature and UI sets, so that the person who wants things to stay as they were in Firefox v87.0 say can have this?

It's about accessibility and how different people are different abled.
When you get used to doing something a certain way, then it changes, it's a loss of familiarity for those on the spectrum. For some, that's all they have.
We hyper protect little children in society for the same reason, familiarity is all they have, but the adults with the same emotional ability get fucked over.
I'm lucky enough i appear like the rest of you, not different, but i can assure you that i am.
To me, i want the Firefox i downloaded. If i want other features, i go look for them.
Just imagine if Ford or Chevy just showed up and move your steering wheel to the back seat, or the brake pedal to the front bumper, WITHOUT ASKING YOU.
I don't believe any software should change other than security UPDATES. Then none of these problems would exist. If you wanted 4 button across the top for new tab/ private tab/ send to phone/groups, THEN GO DOWNLOAD THAT VERSION OF FIREFOX WITH THAT FEATURE. Not everyone uses every feature, we know that for sure, but this is opposite of helpful. It's really simple to allow users to literally turn various on or off, but they won't do that and for some folks that really throws then for a loop.
Many software companies today appear to me at least, to be foaming at the mouth totally desperate to invent the next great feature. And i haven't seen a great feature since tabs. All i get is disturbed and i walk away from the internet for days and weeks, it's so harmful.

Before you even consider a lawsuit against Mozilla and not the desktop Firefox web browser. https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/about/legal/terms/firefox/#you-wont-claim-mozilla-is-responsible-for-your-use-of-firefox-indemnification
Not my problem, I'm not the lawyer, but i do know that in law, with children, and also with accessibility, those "responsibility waivers" get denied all the time due to 'reasonable accommodation'.
But here we all sit with zero accommodations from Firefox, zero comments from Firefox, and zero empathy from Firefox.
Hi
We have provided you with the means to reduce the impact of recent changes as well as clarified the legal position and remain keen to help support your use of Firefox.
Please can you specify the what further we can do to help.

And you never will get comments from Firefox considering Firefox is the name of the web browsers and not a company or such. Firefox is the third name for the desktop version actually.
This is a community support forum for a number of different Mozilla products as you can see on top and on https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/new
James you are a 'Top Ten contributor' and you are just being pedantic about lexicon, even though I already said i wasn't the lawyer. You made a choice to ignore that.
Your contribution here is a big fat ZERO, except for acting like a bully in a school yard, a meaning nazi, if you are familiar with the term.
I posted a screen on reddit, and that is what reddit thought about your comments. You must have a hard life chasing comments the way you do.

I will also note for you Paul, as you are "Top Ten" as well, this isn't a legal advice forum, and I was not seeking legal advice.
Additionally, if you are not a lawyer, it is ILLEGAL TO GIVE LEGAL ADVICE, and most folks I know are not interested in legal advice from strangers on the internet, nor am I. Another ZERO FACTOR contribution from another "top ten" label.

clapham.o, unfortunately it probably wouldn't be feasible for Mozilla to maintain an ever expanding collection of Firefox editions, so that people could choose the version with feature A but not B, or A and B but not C etc.
Even having a single version but with toggles for each and every change would quickly increase complexity. As for each new change or bugfix the developers have to worry about whether this will introduce a problem for people who have one combination of features and UI elements enabled, but not another.
I think something like ESR is the best that can be hoped for here. An edition that does change over time, but less often.
All that said, you could leave feedback for the developers at Mozilla Connect, as that is the official place for feedback and idea suggestions. The link can be found under the Help menu, "Share Ideas and Feedback".
글쓴이 TechHorse 수정일시
Techhorse actually it is quite easy to add toggles to all features, ever heard of photo shop? Literally 10s of thousands. Not only are THOSE features 0/1 enablable, but 99% of them have multi level variability to each feature. There are literally thousands of apps with literally thousands of layers of user setting that are used everyday in society. This is a choice someone is making to not support the level of personalization I'm suggesting would be appropriate and accommodate fully 100% of society. And it's really really sad.
글쓴이 clapham.o 수정일시
clapham.o, the number of options might not be the only factor in determining the complexity and maintenance costs.
I am not familiar with photo shop. Are those features more like isolated surface efects tht one can add to a photo?
Perhaps the function that allows a user to add a sharpness filter from 1 to 100% strength doesn't really affect a proposed new function to adjust image saturation?
This is a different proposition than where they have changed the behind-the-scenes architecture to accommodate a new feature, and adapted pre-existing features to work with the new architecture.
But the new architecture handles things differently of course, and some capabilities and aspects of the older features get changed or removed for technical or other reasons.
So now they would have to maintain bug and security fixes for both old and new architectures, and both versions of the older functions running under each.
To be clear, I am not trying to be dismissive of people who have difficulties with changing software, and you might feel that they could invest more testing and maintenance time to keep things feeling the same for longer.
I am suggesting that the option to keep the browser unchanged indefinitely for those who want or need this might not be that straightforward. And I would bet that even photo shop doesn't have the exact same UI and available options today as it did in version 1.0.
Again though, Connect is the place where comments and feedback are more likely to be seen by the developers.

Hi
I am going to close this thread as it is strayed well beyond a support question.

It was obvious from the start that you are not a lawyer. I was not giving legal advice but rather gave you a link showing your chances of getting anywhere with a lawsuit with Mozilla in California may likely be slim to none in this case. You could have simply gave the link to your Dad's lawyer friend.
So sad that you think that nobody was helping you and sad that you are the one resorting to attacks/insults as that violated forum guidelines https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/mozilla-support-rules-guidelines#w_language-and-conduct
Also was pointing out that this is a community support forum. The people who work on the Firefox web browsers do not spend their time doing support here as perhaps that is what you meant by saying Firefox instead of Mozilla. There are some Mozilla staff that occasionally do like one who does support in the Firefox for Enterprise section.
