What's up with not able to access some pages lately?

Lately when following links from google searches to some sites I get a "can't find" or "access not allowed". These sites tend to be hardware stores - specifically Home Depot or Lowes and some times Walmart. It is NOT my OS!! Because I copy the URL and paste it into Chrome and it works just fine.

Obviously switching to Chrome would solve this issue - but I've used Firefox for years and prefer to stick with it.

What's changing out there that is causing these incompatibilities?

Hi

Please appreciate that you are using an older version of Firefox on an operating system that is no longer supported by its manufacturer.

Do you have examples of the website addresses that are not opening?

Yes but - I still get Firefox updates AND the current Chrome on the same OS works just fine. As an example of pages that don't open -- Google for anything - say a "hammer" - and then try to access the item on a find for Home Depot or Lowes - and it won't open.

But what I am not understanding is WHAT has changed on websites and WHY was this change needed? - except maybe to punish windows 7 users.

current Chrome on the same OS works

I don't think you can run current Chrome, it must have stopped updating years ago, so you probably have something like Chrome 109 that's not getting any security updates for 3y+

Which is sad because the error page blocking your Windows 7 doesn't care about years outdated chromium, but disallows Firefox 115esr which is still getting critical security patches :/
