You need to look at the logs to see what's happening when you try to open Firefox from your distro. Try downloading Firefox from Mozilla. Download, unzip, and run firefox-bin from the folder and see if you have the same issue. https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/#product-desktop-release

You're going to run Firefox from Mozilla and then see if it can import data from your distro version. Run the below cmd to generate a log file called firefox_debug.txt.

strace -t -o firefox_debug.txt firefox &

See screenshot of file that show Firefox exited normally. The log file will be in the working directory that you run the cmd in.
