Is there anything that would prevent me from installing Thunderbird on an SD Card?

Also if I uninstall Thunderbird from the SD Card how would I reinstall it on a portable hard drive and move the profile and mailboxes from the SD Card to the portable hard drive. (Telling Thunderbird where to find the profiles and mailboxes.)

I suggest you just use the portable version at https://portableapps.com/apps/internet/thunderbird_portable it's designed for that.
