What are you using for the new window and new tab? Did you want the tab to open?
The problem I'm having - thru many ver updates - is that every time I open Firefox, it seems to be trying to open a new tab/webpage before opening my homepage. Any ideas? Thanks so much!

Type about:config<enter> in the address bar. If a warning screen comes up, press the I Accept the Risk button. At the top of the screen is a search bar. Type browser.startup.homepage
What is the value? Right-click and select Reset to restore its default value; about:home
Values: https://www.bing.com/browser.startup.homepage https://www.bing.com/ browser.startup.homepage.abouthome_cache.enabled false browser.startup.homepage_override.buildID 20200429185419 browser.startup.homepage_override.mstone 76.0 services.sync.prefs.sync.browser.startup.homepage true
Changed homepage (h/p) to about:home, restarted f/f and h/p value had changed back to bing.com... Btw, f/f also updated to 76. Tried several times with same results. Cannot change to about:home. Thanks again.
Type about:addons<enter> in the address bar to open your Add-ons Manager. Hot key; (<Control> [Mac=<Command>] <Shift> A)
In the Add-ons Manager, on the left, select Extensions. Remove “ Bing “ Anything.
Also remove SafeSearch, SearchAssist Incognito, FileConverter Addon, SearchLock, DiscreteSearch, WebSearch, Findwide Search Engine, securedsearch
Now do the same in the computer’s Programs Folder.
Windows: Start > Control Panel > Uninstall Programs. Mac: Open the Applications folder. Linux: Check your user manual.
None of the above extensions are installed in f/f or w10.

Note: Some software, like Advanced SystemCare with Surfing Protection, can protect files in the Firefox profile folder against changes. If you have such software then check the settings or uninstall this software.
Have no such software installed. Do have the Avast Online Security extension installed but have restarted f/f many times in safe mode and refreshed with no positive results.
I called for more help.
Thanks...
Hi cbg:
I suggest:
1. Trying Windows Safe mode 2. Doing a malware check with malware bytes or equivalent software 3. If the above doesn't work, please consider uninstalling Avast (because disabling antivirus often doesn't remove it 100%) and using Windows built-in anti-virus protection and let us know if any of the above 3 help.
Cheers!

Hi, Roland
Have done everything you've suggested above many, many times over the past 8 months trying to figure this problem out for myself. As too the Avast extension, I only recently installed it, too no avail, in hope's that it would have led me to the problem.
I've removed and re-installed f/f several dozen times, seriously, as well as removed and clean installed w/10 a dozen times. I've tried every other browser available, none of which showed this particular problem.
At this point, I'm thinking m/s does not want w/10 users enjoying f/f... !
I sincerely appreciate both your and Fred's help and if you do come up with a fix in the future please keep me in mind. I'll continue my own search for a fix in the meantime.
Again, thank you both for your time and suggestions.

Hello cbg,
You changed your home page on the "about:config" page; but did you first change the home page on Options <big>→</big> Home ?
