I would like to set startpage as the default search engine in Firefox Focus but I don't understand what to enter in the "search string to use" field. Help.

The support pages don't explain it enough. For example, "feet" could be a search string but this doesn't fit the required format. If I enter the web address of the startpage search page that doesn't work either. I'm not a tech. expert and am at a loss to know what to enter. Please advise.

Hi

I have just tested this myself and it should work for you.

  1. From the Firefox Focus for Android home screen, select the three dot menu in the top right corner.
  2. Choose Settings.
  3. Under Search, select the default option and then + Add another search engine.
  4. Set the Search engine name as startpage
  5. Set the Search string to use as https://www.startpage.com/search/?q=%s.

This should work for you, but if not, please come back here and we can look into a different solution for you.
