I have a Macbook and my homepage keeps resetting to a different website that I haven't given access to.

I have tried fixing it many times, resetting my homepage, restarting my computer but it eventually keeps going back to the same website as my homepage. The articles aren't really helping because it doesn't give specifics for mac users. One of the help articles I found that I thought could be useful wasn't for macbook users. I'd like to fix this so it will stop going back to this homepage.

By the way, thank you for sharing your Firefox configuration data. Do you know what the "Packages" extension does? I haven't heard of that one. If you don't remember installing it or why, try disabling it in case it is related to this problem.

If you used Refresh, that would remove the extension automatically, but if you didn't do that...

You can view, disable, and often remove unwanted or unknown extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Command+Shift+a (Windows: Ctrl+Shift+a)
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
  • type or paste about:addons in the address bar and press Enter/Return

In the left column of the Add-ons page, click Extensions. Then cast a critical eye over the list on the right side. Any extensions Firefox installs for built-in features are hidden from this page, so everything listed here is your choice (and your responsibility) to manage. If in doubt, disable.
