How to invoke Thunderbird confirm shift+delete pop-up

On my new Windows 10 PC with the latest version of Thunderbird (52.2.0 32 bit) when shift+delete is applied to a selected message a pop-up window appears asking "This will delete messages immediately, without saving a copy to Deleted. Are you sure you want to continue?" with buttons "Delete" and Cancel". On my Windows 7 laptop with the same version of Thunderbird the same shift+delete applied to a selected message results in immediate deletion without the confirmation pop-up window. How can I modify the laptop Thunderbird to ensure that the "confirm delete" pop-up window appears before deletion?

Go to Options => Advanced => Config editor and set mail.warn_on_shift_delete = true

You also may find interesting mail.warn_on_delete_from_trash = true
