For some reason I can no longer access my Thunderbird emails via outitgoes webmail. I type in my email address and password but keep getting the message "access denied.please make sure you are using the correct user name" . I've tried changin g the password but it doesn't work. I've also tried from both smartphone and laptop.

Do you mean sending and receiving email using Thunderbird worls as it should, but not when using webmail or any other device and client?

If that’s the case, you might be using the wrong password or even wrong user name only (as indicated by the error message). Maybe you only need to enter the part before the @ for webmail instead of the full address, just like Thunderbird and many other clients.

You could check/view both the user name and password for your account in Thunderbird by opening Thunderbird’s Options - Securty panel - Passwords tab - Saved Passwords button, provided that you have the password stored.

Thanks very much. Sorted now. Checked the saved passwords and discovered it hadn't accepted the changes I'd made ....plus I'd missed one number out of the original!!
