Thunderbird crashes why trying to attach a file!
With the latest version of Thunderbird, it will crash when I try to include an attachment! Once I click on attach, it does nothing, until I try to do something else, then it crashes! The version of Thunderbird has so many bugs in it, sometimes I can even look at an attachment! Its driving me nuts! Please help! Regards, David
Even though Thunderbird hangs (not responding) then crashes, it does not show a crash report! I cleared the crash reports just to verify that! As you can see there are none!

weewood, do you still have the problem after updating to version 38.1.0??
The update to 38.1 did not solve my problem! I can turn off my antivirus software and still have the problem! It also will fail trying to open an attachment! Very frustrating! Regards, David
I should have asked, does it happen in safe mode?
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/safe-mode
Are there file shares defined from your PC to another computer that aren't connecting?
Does it happen if you disable automatic safe at tools | options | composition | general ?
I used Thunderbird in Safe Mode and the same failure occurs! I don't share files with another computer. Thunderbird worked fine for me before the 38.0 update. I've tried going back to a previous level but Thunderbird always runs the update to 38.0, and now to 38.1.
Sorry we're not solving your problem. Can you file a bug report please at https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=Thunderbird
To disable updates so that you can stay on an older version go to Tools | Options | Advanced | Updates | Never check
