Why is Firefox downloading multiple copies of "Silverlight.dmg"?
Every web page that opens seems to want to download another duplicate copy of Silverlight, even though I have the latest already installed., I'll look at my download file, and I'll have 50-100 copies for the day. Every day.

Hi! I'm am cleaning my sisters PC. It died of neglect. Among the many problems is that there are over 100 copies of Silverlight in the C: directory. Each sub-directory contains the same files and they are all 4.5mgb. The sub-directories all have names that look like UUIDs and none match. May I remove these?
Thanks!
Yes, move them to the trash. It looks that there is a permissions problem with installing the Silverlight plugin.
That would make some sense. Larger question is: How do we stop/fix the problem? Any help here?
Is the Silverlight plugin installed and working?
How do I tell that it is working?
Apparently MS no longer has a Silverlight test on the silverlight.net/GetStarted/ page.
Here are some test pages for Silverlight:
Thanks. They all seem to work throughout the ranges. I suppose that means that the silverlight plugin is installed and working, yet I am still getting silverlight downloaded for nearly every website page I view. Sure wish I could tell it to STOP.
Still, still, still, trying to find a solution. My downloads folder fills right up with scads of Silverlight.dmg files. Here is from just this afternoon (I cleaned it out just a few hours ago!):
"Silverlight(53).dmg
...
Silverlight(5).dmg
Silverlight(4).dmg
Silverlight(3).dmg
Silverlight(2).dmg
Silverlight(1).dmg"
