I have recently upgraded to Thunderbird 31.5.0 and I find that I cannot send to Collected addresses again. This problem happened before but was quickly resolved. I have tried making the list name all one word but then I get a different error message:

An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: 5.1.2 We weren't able to find the recipient domain. Please check for any 5.1.2 spelling errors, and make sure you didn't enter any spaces, periods, 5.1.2 or other punctuation after the recipient's email address. bx3sm13828525wjc.21 - gsmtp. Please check the message recipient Neighbourhood_Watch and try again.

Please can anybody help.

Chosen solution

In my Address Book is a Folder called Collected Addresses.

Collected Addresses is a separate address book, not a folder. Thunderbird stores email addresses there for recipients not (yet) in your Personal Address Book.

In that Folder i have a group of addresses called Neighbourhood Watch.

You should create mailing lists in your Personal Address Book.

Whenever i addressed a message to the group it sent the message to all the members of the group.

That's the idea of a mailing list.

I get the error message

My best guess is there is a wrong email address in your mailing list causing the error.

Do you know a way of deleting one of the messages?

I'm not sure I understand this. Once a message has been sent it's gone.

Can you explain what 'send to Collected addresses' means?

When i try to do this now, even though I have renamed the group Neighbourhood_Watch I get the error message.

I have innocently sent the same message twice. Do you know a way of deleting one of the messages?

Thank you. Moving the list to my Personal Address Book worked.

For some reason it has always worked in the past from Collected Addresses.
