Since the update about two weeks ago I have trouble with Regions online banking

About two weeks ago there was a simultaneous update of Window10, Firefox and Bitdefender. Since those updates my access to online bill pay has been broken. The bank is Regions, I can log on to the account, view balances and such but when going to the Bill pay section things go bad. The "Payments" page is basically blank with only the page headers and no other content (see image below). I went to an older version of Firefox on a Linux (Mint) machine and I am able to access this page, but on my three windows machines it does not work. I installed Chrome and at first got an error on that page, but today it worked! Edge also seems to work but I really don't want to use any of these other browsers.

The bank is blaming Firefox.

I have used Firefox for years and don't want to switch so I hope what ever you "updated" two weeks ago gets fixed soon as not having ready access to bill pay is a real problem.

I have turned off popup blocking, set to standard tracking protection, shut down virus defense (Bitdefender) and several other settings suggested on this site to no avail. If it makes any differences I have about 4 windows machines that link/share bookmarks and such .

Please FIX whatever you updated ASAP.

Did you try Firefox Private Mode Browser to verify Addon/Extensions aren't also causing this login issue.

An additional fact I forgot: When you hover the mouse over one of the option selections it is supposed to provide a drop down menu. That feature does not work any more for this page. Don't know if it related or not.

Used private mode and it works! So how do I figure out which addon or whatever is causing the problem and fix it. Or just always use private mode? Guidelines/hints much appreciated

Here are three differences between private and regular windows:

(1) Private windows don't use previously cached pages/files that regular windows use

To clear the web content cache, see: How to clear the Firefox cache (just select cache, NOT all cookies and site data)

(2) Private windows don't use cookies the site previous set in regular windows

You can selectively remove a site's cookies either while you are on the site or on the Settings page.

On the site: click the lock icon at the left end of the address bar. After a moment, a "Clear Cookies and Site Data" button should appear at the bottom. Go ahead and click that. Firefox will ask you to confirm; go ahead and confirm.

On the settings page: on the Privacy & Security panel, in the "Cookies and Site Data" section of the page, use the "Manage Data" button to clear cookies and site data for selected sites.

(3) Some of your add-ons might be disabled in private windows

Extensions you add to Firefox need permission to run in private windows, which you might not have granted. This article has more information on where this is set and how to spot the difference: Extensions in Private Browsing.

If you suspect the bank site might be breaking as a result of a privacy add-on or content blocker, those usually have a toolbar button that lets you make an exception for the current site.

There might be something else that isn't immediately coming to mind...

I don't believe what the final problem was... DarkReader! I have old eye's and dark pages are easier to read. Turning off dark reader makes the page work! Now my only question is it the banks page ability to handle dark pages (didn't previously have problem FWIW) ?? or a change in the dark reader add-on in the latest update(s)??

I do know many sites have problematic colors in dark mode :)

Anyone have any ideas on which is most likely?

Do you see the text when you select text in space where you would text with the mouse or via Ctrl+A to select all ?

Unfortunately, I don't know how Dark Reader works. Maybe framed/embedded pages aren't as easily adjusted as the main page. ??

Apparently there are some site fixes (https://github.com/darkreader/darkreader#site-fixes) but I don't know how you get a new one added. Does the add-on have a link to report site-specific issues?

COR-EL: there are two things I noted. 1) drop down menus when hovering do not work in dark mode (on this site at least) and 2) the whole page format is wrong, There is an "advertisement" that normally appears across the bottom that is moved up to the center of the page and Ctrl-a only highlights what is visible, no hidden text. See image I supplied above. The white bar at the center is normally near the bottom of the page.

Dark reader is the last thing I would have thought would be the culprit since I only thought it affected the screen pallet.

As far as update to Darkreader I will look into that today. I am also going to let the bank people know the cause to see if they have something on their side that might be at fault.

Current work around is shut off Darkreader when going to that page, but I would like to know the real fix.

If the cause is Darkreader you should contact the Developer to update their Addon so it works with current Firefox and your banking system. Beyond that it's up to Darkreader to update their Addon to work with Firefox and the site.

It was my understanding that Darkreader is a firefox addon that is recommended and included in firefox; since I did not go looking for it, I just used a firefox supported feature/addon. In addition this all "broke" with the Firefox update about two weeks ago. So coming on this forum is the only way I know to contact the developer :)

Other forms of contact would be appreciated?
