I can't drag a downloaded file from Firefox to my desktop on a mac

more options

I can't drag a downloaded file from Firefox to my desktop on a mac. It used to work and now it doesn't. I've searched and searched and searched to find an answer and nothing has resulted in fixing the problem. I don't seem to have any add ons installed that I can see of unless they are hiding somewhere.

Hi Cara, where do you normally drag the file from? Is it the Downloads list (Command+J)?

Hi, From both the download folder and the downloads pop up in the right corner in the browser. I just get a circle with a line through it. I can drag a download onto my desktop from Safari so it's not a computer issue. I looked under Add Ons and there aren't any add ons I have installed.

Thanks, Cara

Hi Cara, thank you for checking that.

There are numerous reports from other Mac OS users of this same issue with Firefox 111.0, starting last Thursday. I don't know whether it affects everyone on Mac OS, or whether it might be a Firefox or system settings issue. If I hear of any suggestions from the developers or requests for information, I will pass them along in a later reply.

Until this is sorted out, you could consider using the magnifying glass icon on the right side of the download on the list. That button should launch a new Finder window with the download highlighted so you can access the file wherever it was saved at the time of download (either to work with it or move it somewhere else).
