Hi

I am using Firefox on Mac OS Sierra and I manage a number of websites using Joomla. I've had a problem for at least a year whereby Joomla admin keeps on quitting when I'm navigating around the system in Firefox.

I finally gave up using Firefox for this purpose and I always use Google Chrome instead, and I've never had this problem occur in Chrome. I thought it might be related to my specific install, but on a couple of occasions when I've tried to use it on my laptop, which has a pretty pristine installation of FF, the same thing has happened.

However more problems seem to be surfacing over time, principally: 1. I am frequently unable to click a link on a web page until I refresh the page 2. Problems completing online forms. For example I just tried to make a payment transfer in Paypal but was unable to type in the amount. When I logged in with Chrome instead, it worked fine.

Firefox has been my preferred browser for a very long time and I'd like to continue using it as my main browser, but unless I can eliminate these sorts of problems.

I wonder if anyone has experienced similar problems and if they have found a solution to them?

Many thanks Jennie

Hi, jennie dee

try: 3-bar menu > Options > Privacy & Security, then under Content Blocking, remove all blocks; also under Permissions, deselect any block on Pop-up windows.

Now reload the site. If that works, should you wish, you can make an exception for the site.

If you are using an ad-blocker try disabling it, or turn it off on that site, then reload the page. (3-bar menu > Add-ons > Extensions).

If you have other extensions, try disabling them, or hold down the Shift key when you start Firefox to start in Safe Mode. More - Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode.

Overall with Firefox usage statistics being below 10% and with how Mozilla keeps changing Firefox lately, its hard for applications / websites to keep supporting what may be particular to Firefox.

You can fight Google by using Firefox (and a few other web browsers) or you can bend over and "accept Google" as an intrusion to your privacy i many ways. And when specific websites or web applications don't work correctly demand that Firefox remains supported by them, and to hire new developers who know what is needed to support Firefox and other web browsers.

IMO, shades of 1984 when a person's rights are overridden by the powerful in a society. And everyone / everything is standardized, and education is held in disdain.

With regard to the Joomla issues, I have raised this with Joomla developers on occasions and they haven't been able to duplicate the issues in Firefox. Possible it may be specific to Mac OS version. As an intermittent problem it's difficult to nail down.

I will try the other suggestions. These settings by the way are under Firefox - Preferences on the Mac.

Thanks for your help
