How can I straignten out my bookmarks, they are different on each computer regardless of Sync

more options

After Firefox started having issues with XMarks, my bookmarks started to mulitply. Now there are litteraly 1500 or more. All kinds of folders, and lots of empty ones. I started to delete, hoping to find the folders that had the collections I wanted to save. Never found them, if I point to the chevron at the bottem of the bookmarks screen, it will scroll for 5 minutes or more. I have several machines with mulitple operating systems, one of the Win 10 pro units, has Win 7 pro on the other side. Win 10 has the most useable collection, it shows Sync, but none of the other machines, (I have 7) show the useable collection. I am at a wits end. Short of changing over to Chrome, and correcting everything in that Browser, what are my options?

  1. Disconnect Sync on all devices before trying to fix your duplicate bookmarks.
  2. In Help > Troubleshooting Information scroll down to Places Database and use the Verify Integrity button; allow that process to run until it shows the results. Hopefully that will fix whatever corruption that happened due to XMarks.
  3. Do Verify Integrity that on all devices and operating systems / Firefox Profiles.
  4. Then work on organization or deletion of empty folders.
  5. If you want to continue to use Sync go to Firefox Accounts online here: https://accounts.firefox.com/signin and change your Account Password to clear the corrupt Sync data which is on the Sync server.
  6. Sign into Sync on the first device to send the data on that device to the Sync server.
  7. A few hours later connect the 2nd and slowly connect additional devices to Sync.
  8. Stop if you see any corruption with any device.
