When I type in text into the address bar or other txt boxes on some websites I get garbled text.

- I have dissabled all extensions and this still occurs
- I have "Cleaned up Firefox and this still occurs
- I have toggled the NumLock and this still occurs
- I have downloaded the very latest version, uninstalled the existing version and installed the new Firefox and this still occurs

The attached image shows what is supposed to be the url: https://gmail.com

Unfortunately it will not upload and when I click the Troubleshooting Information: button I get redirectcted... that page has moved.

This has been going on too long. I am tired of cutting and pasting urls into FF just so I can use it

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

Fred,

No, there is no issue in Safe Mode. However I ***need*** extensions to work, especially for personal banking. Cannot keep running it Safe Mode.

Hi, try turning off Hardware Acceleration and if necessary, update your graphics drivers Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL

If your question is resolved by this or another answer, please take a minute to let us know. Thank you!

Hello sptyte,

In your original post you mention that disabling all extensions didn't make a difference, so, no worries there ....

Would you take a look at this article please, especially the sections :

'Turn off hardware acceleration' and 'Switch to the default theme'

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-extensions-themes-to-fix-problems

Any good  ?

Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes). If the problem goes away, that tells us one thing. If it does not, that tells us something else.

Many Thanks to all who took the time to reply too my issue.

Results: I have the latest video drivers so nothing there Checked for extension updates... none available Disabling Hardware Acceleration had no effect Close and re-open FF Changing back to Default Theme had no effect Close and re-open FF

Now that I am thinking more about it, when I Power On the laptop all is fine. It is only when I Close FF (Alt+F4 or the X on the top right) then re-open it at a later time do I get these garbled text issues!? I finally got the screen capture to upload. It should read: https://gmail.com

Regards
