When I "open" Firefox all that happens is that a rectangle with the Firefox icon appears on the bar at the bottom of the screen. When I click on that rectangle it opens a little box above it where I can see my Firefox home page. If I click on that there is a "swoosh" to the right side and it disappears. I can't get into Firefox where I have all my bookmarks. When I try troubleshooting I am told to click on the menu bar but there is no menu bar.

You may have corrupt xulstore.json or Localstore.rdf file.

Close Firefox. Open your file browser to this hidden location:

  • Mac: *~/Library/Application Support/Firefox/
  • Linux: *~/.mozilla/firefox/
  • Windows: %AppData%\Mozilla\Firefox\
  • *C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\

Locate the above files. Then rename or delete them. Restart Firefox.
