I would like to have multiple email storage files on my disk drive storing emails by subject, similar to additional pst files in outlook. Is it possible?

I would like to have multiple data storage files that I can open and close in Thunderbird. I need to save messages from and board of directors account but don't need them cluttering up things until I really need to search for a specific item. Let me know if that is possible.

Thanks, Ketih

All folders you make in Local Folders are on your PC not on the server. A folder is a single file (mbox-type) you can also export your mail as individual .eml files. You can move copy and store either at another location. An .eml file is directly opened in Thunderbird. A Mbox-folder must be imported if its moved outside Thunderbird.

The usual way of saving mails depending on subject line is using filters to move them to separate folders. You can have the folders locally or if its an IMAP account on mail-server.

Just to complete. An add-on ImportExportTool is a very good help,
