Upgraded to ver 40.0.2 Like a dummy I installed an extension that gave another row of tabs. The bookmarks stopped working so I uninstalled the extension (which I got by searching Mozilla) Downloaded ver 39.0.1 and installed it. Bookmarks worked fine. Reinstalled ver 40.0.2 Bookmarks stopped again.

Question: How do I get ver 40.0.2 working again?

Win XP, 3 GHz, 4GB RAM

Also looking for a GOOD duplicate bookmark remover. I had one on Chrome called Supersorter but Chrome was sooooo slow I gave it up and came back to Firefox.

HELP pse!

Do you have any of these extensions:

  • IE Tab, IE Tab 2, etc. => to resolve bookmark issues caused by IE Tab extensions, disable or remove those extensions using the Add-ons page

Actually, I should have asked you which extension you installed that causes this problem. Maybe I need to add it to my list.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file (bookmarks, history) in the Firefox profile folder.
