I've discovered two Yahoo cookies, named B and AO. They can't be deleted through the usual means. How do I get rid of them?

I'm using Firefox 10.0.2 on an iMac running OS X 10.6.8. I discovered this issue when deleting Yahoo cookies in response to an ad on the Yahoo site that was tapping into my location even when I wasn't logged into Yahoo. All other Yahoo cookies I was able to delete through Firefox preferences except for the two described above. I'd appreciate any information available as to what these cookies are for and how Yahoo could prevent me from deleting them.

Evidently the cookies.sqlite file was corrupted as simply trying to delete all cookies through the Tools menu only resulted in an eventual script error asking me if I wanted to let the script continue running or not. I then deleted cookies.sqlite along with the only other cookie files I could see, cookies.sqlite-shm and cookies.sqlite-wa.

After exiting and restarting Firefox, the two persistent Yahoo cookies were gone. Thanks.

If clearing the cookies doesn't help then it is possible that the file cookies.sqlite that stores the cookies is corrupted.

Rename (or delete) cookies.sqlite (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete other present cookie files like cookies.sqlite-journal in the Firefox Profile Folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted.

You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:

  • Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder
