I'm unable to delete an item in the awesome bar. The intructions advice to hightlight and hit the delete button. The next time I open the awesome bar the item I attempted to delete is back. I've removed it as a bookmark also.

Items that have a star are bookmarks.
You can open such page in the location bar and press the yellow star to open the "Edit This Bookmark" dialog and click the Remove button to remove the bookmark(s).
