Cannot send email when VPN is on

I just downloaded Norton Lifelock 360 Deluxe Plus which has a VPN. When trying to send email I get the following message: An error occurred while sending mail: The mail server sent an incorrect greeting: p-impout010.msg.pkvw.co.charter.net cmsmtp 192.139.37.226 blocked. Please see https://www.spectrum.net/support/internet/understanding-email-error-codes for more information. AUP#Out-1120.

Sending messages directly from Web Mail works fine. I contacted Norton and they said it's not something with the VPN. So, it must be a setting in Thunderbird. Which one, I have no clue. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Exclude Thunderbird from VPN tunnelling, IF your VPN client software gives you that option. See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1206707
