Just got the newest version of Firefox, 36.04, and it is terrible! None of my previous websites will load properly. I get all kinds of script messages, and I can't stop them. How can I go back to the previous version. There is an "S" symbol next to the web site I want to go to and I can't get rid of it. If the answers are simple, then OK. But There is so much terminology that is foreign to me. I have temporarily gone back to using Internet Explorer. This new version is much harder to figure out. For example, there is no button to click on called " Create Account" so I could ask these questions. I couldn't get to my bank account on line because of some "security" breaches that were never there before. When I tried to add them to the "white list", the "Add" button didn't work.

I always despised Microsoft each time I upgraded to a new version of Windows because they changed everything around, putting many of the familiar buttons, etc., in different places, and it would be like learning a new operating system. I don't have time to learn all the ends and outs of a new browser. You should have an easy-to-use tutorial of what's new, why it's different. and how to set the parameters. And it should be available and downloadable (by notice of new upgrade) before it is downloaded.

Amazing! Great detective work Kemo!!

And sorry you had to deal with that. Do you remember the website where the bad Firefox came from? We can report them to the legal department of Firefox so they can shut the website down.

Google always puts bad links to Firefox at the top of the search results page. Disguising them as search results when they are really ads. These ads are never checked by Google for safety and have been infecting many Firefox users for many years now. It is a horrible practice by them and I can only hope Google can be sued one day for the damages they have caused.

hello, please try to refresh firefox and see if this can address the issue...

the problem is probably not caused by the update but one of your addons (noscript?) - without knowing about your customized setup it's difficult to give targeted advice.

You will be asked to login to this website by entering your username and password. Then after that, click the green "Share Data" button it will copy important information about your Firefox settings to our website. The green button will change to the text "This field was populated automatically. See the data." That means it was successful. Then scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click the blue "Save Question" button.

Make a new post in this thread after you have done that to let us know you did it.

My guess is someone installed the NoScript addon for you to offer you better security but now it has got too complicated for you and is causing all these problems. It is definitely not a addon for people who aren't handy with computers or don't understand computer terminology.

It should be as easy as uninstalling the NoScript addon if that is the case.

There was a "NoScript" program. It did not show up in any Add On area in Firefox. I uninstalled Firefox. When I did a search on all files containing the nam Firefox, I found that the uninstall had not removed any files. I changed the access to windows explorer to "Run As Administrator" and deleted everything. When I went to the Internet to re-install Firefox, I saw what had happened: The first item in the list of sites to download Firefox was NOT a Mozilla website. So I had loaded the software from a third party, which added several Add On's that I didn't want or need. When I reloaded Firefox from the Mozilla web site, everything was wonderful.

Thank you for your help.

I looked at this. It doesn't look familiar. I am fairly sure that the first word in the URL was "download". I tried to search again using the phrase "upgrade firefox windows 7" and the first site was:

Very long Google ad url to downloadsable.com

Not sure what all this is, but the web site was "//www.downloadsable.com". Hope this helps.

Kemo

BTW - you can mark this problem as "solved"! Maybe it should be normal procedure to ask users if they are sure that they used a Mozilla.org website to do their download. And, I am not totally a novice user. I apologize to your support team if I seemed irate. I do have 40+ years in the computer software industry, but 99% of it was with mainframes and other very large servers. I always had someone on staff to take care of my PC. Thanks again.
