Over the past couple of days, I've discovered new mail in my inbox but the new mail icon (with the red dot) doesn't show in the system tray.

I get notifications of new mail, which is fine if I'm sitting at the computer. But the icon in my system tray doesn't change, so I never know if mail has arrived while I was away.

I've tried everything - both in Thunderbird settings and Windows system tray settings - and nothing is making a difference.

Is this happening to anyone else? Might it be a bug?

Love Thunderbird - thanks!

Can't seem to find what folder an email is in doing a search. The list of results doesn't show it and can't see it in the email. Maybe missing something. I sort emails by folders so not knowing the folder makes it hard to find what folder it is in (such as I may want to move that email).

Following a Thunderbird update (I think it was 2 updates ago) it changed the behaviour of the description field in the new events window. I use thunderbird in a dark screen mode, and everything works perfectly, except when I try to type something into that description window. I'm now tying black (intead of white) on an almost black background. It's virtually impossible to see anything I'm trying to type. All the other fields are typing fine, white on black. If I open an entry on my calander now, it's fine, apart from that description field, which is also displaying text as black on black. It's also the same if I reopen the entry for editing. I had hoped the next update was going to correct this anomally, but it didn't. Is anyone aware of / reported this issue? Will it be fixed in the next update? Thank you for looking at this. Oh, nearly forgot, when I highlight the black on black text by clicking and dragging (prep for cut / copy & paste) the black text actually shows up as white text on a blue background whilst the field is 'live' moving onto something else, the text remains withe on a grey background. Hope this helps.

I deleted a Google email mailbox that I no longer use. However, everytime I start up Thunderbird it still tries to authenticate and login to that mailbox. I removed the connection from my outbound mail servers but do not know where else to look. The connection is to a Google Mail box and it automatically pops up a browser window with a Gmail login prompt each time I start Thunderbird.

Also, all my other connections to my other (non-Google) mailboxes are stuck and will not send and receive messages.

Any advice would be helpful! Thank you!

So my other Emails that are setup for outlook.office365.com work but then I try to add a new one today and it don't work I try delete cookies remove saved logins for the given Email remove permission and start over it just does not work.

This might be a Microsoft issue?

The release notes for TB 159.0 indicate that MS Exchange calendars are now automatically detected. I have tried deleting my old EWS MS Exchange email account, and adding it back in using the Graph option. Email is working just fine, but no calendar was detected. Can anyone offer some assistance? Since yesterday , Thursday 29th October. Thunderbird has only been displaying the "Inbox" for my account, no emails are visible in it and all of the directories including the deleted emails directory and spam directory are absent. I have Windows 11 installed. I am using the IMAP server for incoming email and have checked that all the settings are correct. My account displays no incoming emails but can send emails. The directories are still absent when running Trouble shooter and the inbox is still empty. In the Account Settings - Server Settings I tested connection to the server and it said secure connection made - this worked for both outgoing and incoming servers. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Thunderbird but the issue persists. Although I do not change any settings the full set of directories will occasionally appear along with some emails and then seconds later disappear again. My email account is working fine on my phone and tablet using gmail.

I always keep program icon in tray and when a new/unread email arrives, a separate yellow icon would pop up next to it... Well, after updating from 158 to 159, that new/unread icon is no longer popping up. Now I have to periodically click the main program icon to open Thunderbird and see that there's tons of new/unread mail sitting there, but that yellow tray icon never showed!

I would like to roll back to 158 but it is proving to be quite difficult.

I reset my Windows10 computer last week, reinstalled Thunderbird and got it to work as POP3 for about 5 days, but now it won't connect to my e-mail account (@prodigy.net), which I normally access through Yahoo Mail. Then on Wednesday, it just stopped working.

Last week I had to enter a passkey in as the password, but it still needed to be set as a "Normal Password". This week I have tried the same passkey as "Normal Password" which doesn't work. I tried using the passkey but specifying "OAuth2", and it doesn't work. I have tried the "Normal Password" with the password I use to get to the Yahoo Mail account on line, and it doesn't work either.

The message I get is "Authentication error" and "Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuaration, username or password." So, I thought I might change the passkey, but now I cannot FIND how to change, remove or create a passkey. Not at Yahoo.com nor at att.com. Can you help me? Thanks, Deb Fisher

I have 4 email accounts - 2 with UK provider Talktalk and 2 with Gmail I access all of these these via two different computers Since the update 159 a couple of days ago, the folders of the Talktalk account on one machine have vanished. On the other machine they are fine. The missing folders could be brought back by running in trouble shooting mode by disabling addons. Now, that doesn't work. I can access all folders on my other machine and by webmail. As I am writing this, the inbox has appeared with all my mail but no other folders. I have pasted the trouble shooting information below

When I create an event in the Thunderbird calendar and enter text in the “Details” field, the text appears the same color as the black background, making it unreadable, as shown in the attached image. However, red and blue text displays normally. It seems there is no option to specify font colors in the calendar. I would appreciate it if you could suggest a solution. Thank you in advance.
