I recently upgraded to ver 3.6.8 and have been experiencing unusual activity [in the form of FF alerts] with this ver that I did not have with my earlier ver. For example I am receiving the following FF alerts on webpages which I routinely visit.

> FF tells me that it prevented the webpage from reloading

> FF tells me that it prevented a re-direction to another website

> FF tells me You have requested an encrypted page that contains some unencrypted information. Information that you see or enter on this page could easily be read by a third party

These messages appear on the various legitimate websites which I routinely visit. I did not receive these messages with the earlier FF version. Does anyone know why this is happening now with ver 3.6.8 ?

Update Shockwave Flash (Adobe Flash). A new version was released 2010-08-12, ver. 10.1.82.76.

  1. You can check your version: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/
    • Note: plugin check page does not have information on all plugin versions
  2. Use Firefox to Download and SAVE to your hard drive (link in article below)
  3. After download completes, close Firefox
  4. Click on the file you just downloaded and install
  5. After installation, restart Firefox and check your version again.

These sound like fairly normal Firefox alerts. What version were you running previously?

Older versions may not have been as strict about warning you for partially encrypted content.

You can turn these alerts off: Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> General Uncheck Warn me when websites try to redirect or reload the page See Advanced panel - Accessibility, browsing, network, updates, and other advanced settings in Firefox

For the unencrypted warning, you need to uncheck the "Alert me" option to warn you about that when you see the dialog. Here is a screenshot for reference: https://support.mozilla.com/tiki-download_forum_attachment.php?locale=en-US&attId=15474

Thanks guys for the helpful info about how to disable these warning messages. Previously, I used FF ver 3.6.7 and hardly ever received these types of warning messages for the same websites. That's what confused me when I constantly started to get these warning messages?

Like you said RJ19 ...maybe this later version has stricter security rules by default.

Thanks again everyone who replied :)
