Hello,

Since the last firefox update to version 97.0b3 a new "effect" appeared, which is truly annoying. Whenever I download something, the downloadbutton message pops up, and I don't know how to get rid of this. Could you please tell me how to change the settings to prevent this from happening?

This could be related to the new download panel.

That could be a message from an add-on download manager. Check its settings.

Okay, I know a bit more now. After first disabling all my add-ons, the 'problem' remained, so it's not due to those. Then I tried to revert back to an earlier firefox release, to no avail either. Then I read the topic about the "Changes to the Firefox download flow", and now I know that what I considered an 'annoying popup' is actually the 'downloads panel'. Apparently my 'problem' is a side-effect of a new feature, but still very annoying to me.

Setting "browser.download.improvements_to_download_panel" to 'false' indeed solves my problem, but that happens to turn off the entire new download flow feature. A separate option to only prevent the panel from showing up might be a future 'improvement'.

Thanx guys!

Dunno if this addition is still relevant, but now I found the setting "browser.download.alwaysOpenPanel" which - if set to 'false' - is the right solution to prevent the downloads panel from showing up at every download. I put the setting "browser.download.improvements_to_download_panel" back to 'true', so I can have the benefit of the new download flow feature.
