Hello, I am suddenly unable to send emails. I get an error message: Send Message Error - Sending of the message has failed. The message could not be sent because connecting to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.gmail.com failed. The server may be unavailable or is refusing SMTP connections. Please verify that your Outgoing server (SMTP) settings are correct and try again.

I have not changed the server settings so this is a strange message. In any case, I checked everything (it's a pretty simple gmail.smtp server), I don't have the firewall turned on, and in any case I did send messages earlier this morning. I receive mail normally. I have always updated Thunderbird. After several tries, I also re-downloaded it and reinstalled it, but to no avail. I am using MAC OS 12.0.1. Please advise. Many thanks, Giovanna

What are the settings? They should be smtp.gmail.com on 465, SSL/TLS, or 587, STARTTLS, OAuth2 authentication, User Name = email address. What is the antivirus and its settings for email? Disable a VPN if you have one. Proxy setting in Preferences/General should be 'no proxy'.

Thank you. Yes those are the settings. I should stress that I have always sent emails without problems. The inability to send emails started abruptly! No changes were made.

What is the antivirus and its settings for email? Sometimes the antivirus updates silently and becomes incompatible with TB.
