I have trouble with file tools.
It won't let me edit anything, saying the username is already in use. It doesn't look like before I changed isps.

Sounds like you renamed the Thunderbird Local folders to match your email account name. This is my guess since you claim you cannot delete one account. Local Folders is a default and cannot be deleted. Please post your troubleshooting information as requested a couple of post ago.

is the mail address you are having trouble with on your old ISP's domain?
The screenshot is only apparent on my notebook. My desktop, at home, is normal. The file tools window that opens when I click on either of the tjlarson@wonderoast.com entries keeps saying that I can only have one of them. The upper is the only one that I can delete, but I think it's the lower one that is the problem.
Oh, and I've been successful in changing to the new ISP.
Do you mean you are trying to access the account settings window, but getting "Account with this name already exists" error message?
Post info: In thunderbird
- Help > Troubleshooting Information,
- do not select the checkbox to include account names
- click on 'Copy text to clipboard' b utton
- In this forum question, right click in 'Post a reply' text box and select 'Paste'.
- Remove all info on fonts and printers but nothing else.
Yes. I can delete one, but only the one that has email. If I try to add it to the remaining one, I'm back to having two.

when you go into account settings the cursor is blinking in the account name. put a 1 there on the end of what is there and click ok. Now you do not have a duplicate name everything should work as expected. You can change the name again after the other duplicate is re-named or deleted.

Thank you both. It's fixed.
