a hijacking virus called " adf.ly"
hello , how are you ? i have super serious problem about what i mentiond in the summarize about the adf.ly virus . first what it do ? it simply pop up on each website i try to enter or visit and open useless ad website and force to wait 5 seconds to skip the website and it wont allow me to open any websites untill i fully wait the 5 seconds to skip but then the nightmare begin , after i press skip it open even more ad websites and force me to wait 5 seconds and skip and open more websites and in the end after many skips it open my websites i want to open but after couple clicks it opo up again . i have searched and tried all possibilties to remove it , tried almost all anti virus programmes and anti ad programmes nothing working and then i changed my windows i thought this will resolve this problem but it didnt work i have changed my windows many times tried diffrent windows but didnt work and then i have decided to completly format my pc ( all drivers) and it didnt work tried diffrent browers but all same . finaly my only solution is to buy new pc cuz a fkin virus ?
thanks for reading - i hope anyone help me with this problem before i throw my pc from the window and buy new one :(

You may have ad / mal-ware. Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.
Run most or all of the listed malware scanners. Each works differently. If one program misses something, another may pick it up.

i already tried all of this and it has been 2 weeks since it effected my pc so i think i have searched enough for a solution but nothing helped
Hi, since you've tried other browsers, it must be on your PC. So try typing adf.ly into the Start Menu search box.
Also look in Hidden files and folders - I'm not certain about XP but on Win 7 that would be Control Panel > Appearance > Folder Options, View tab > Show hidden files, folders and drives.
Look for anything you don't recognize in your programs, and try to correlate the dates with when this first appeared.

If you do a full format of your hard disk drive that should get rid of any malware. However when you reinstall software you are probably reinstalling the malware.
Where did you get the name adf.ly from and what if anything is detecting and identifying this malware.
As this is presumably affecting the whole PC and not just Firefox you are probably best consulting some specialist forum. This advice was already linked to by Fred:
