I launched Firefox and it crashed before I could restore my session, I now upon launching it again do not have any obvious option to restore that session(the regular ones are greyed out), how would I go about restoring the session I used last.

Maybe you can find a copy of the sessionstore.js file with the tabs from that session in the Time Machine if you use that application.
