When building or editing sites with the help/use of firebug 1.9.1 and the web-developer tools, firefox will without asking or any other notice rip out the tab away from other tabs to make a new window for it in isolation. WTF!? i have to repeatedly drag the tab back into the previous window. Browser acts like it's highjacked doing crap all by itself

Firefox 3.5 versions and later have a feature called tear-off tabs.
You can detach a tab from the current window and open it in a new window by dragging a tab in the browser window.
You can drag that tab back to the tab bar in the original window to undo that detaching.

thank you for your promptness cor-el

But i know about that feature very well, and i use it a lot to organize my web researching when going into another category of findings. Especially with this problem, i drag the detached tab back to the original window from which it first AUTOMATICALLY detached itself from multiple times. And NO, i do not randomly click and drag my mouse catching the tab unknowingly that makes the dragged out tab create its own new window which is how that detach feature works

As i'm using the web-development add-on tool, and firebug, the tab would all buy itself, without me keying or clicking anything, it just closes firebug and deactivates what options i've turned on in the web-development tools and is a brand new window with one tab by itself, separating itself from the original window of tabs.

If there is anything you know about web-development tool add-on or the latest firebug with known bugs that interfere with the latest version of firefox, please let me know, it seems to be acting as though its hijacked but my pc is merely new with no malware infections of any sort

Please help me!

OK, well, I've come to narrow it down to just these two items

1. Firebug 1.9.1

2. Web Developer Toolbar, mainly the "Display Element Information Ctrl+Shift+F"

When these two are active through my editing/debugging and what not, the tab that i would be working on would by itself detach into a new window. I though that i might have something to do with another add-on i used called Tab-tile which helped me see two pages at the same time, but it didn't seem so.

Please also note that the page i'm fixing is locally hosted, on my machine, and that i open the same page in two tabs next to each other with firebug active, and one tab using that web developer tool option mentioned above. Thus while editing and refreshing the tabs to see what differences are applied, that's when one of the tabs will become detached without any warning/notice. You'll know this happens when there appears, off course, two windows and it automatically closes firebug as well and disable the active web-dev tools option.

Thats if you would like to try what my problem looks like. This happens with both, Firefox 8 and 10, as far as i've tried to solve this. If there is anything you know that may be causing this glitch, it would be nice to know so that i can make my workflow more fluent Thank you.
