On any webpage, if you Right-click and 'Save Image As' (eg here), you get offered usually JPG, sometimes PNG but I can't choose BMP which sometimes is very useful. 

  Is there a way to do this ?   If not, can it please be added ?

Firefox saves image files in their original format, it can't "convert" an image file to another format.
