when I try to run THundebird I get the following error "connection to server pop-server.triad.rr.com was reset"

I get the error "connection to server pop-server.triad.rr.com was reset" when running Thunderbird and then I get no email.

Don't know if it is relevant but I did try VPN beta in Thunderbird some time before the above error happened.
