Are you going to do anything about malfunctioning extensions?

more options

I understand, it's not an easy task, but the browser becomes unusable, if every time I install a new extension, there is no quality check whatsoever, and I end up having to restart in troubleshoot mode to find out which extension is causing parts of the webiste I am visiting to now show up. It's just frustrating. I very much value having to many extensions and that's why I use Firefox on a mac as the main browser, but something has to be done. Extensions should satisfy some basic rules and not cause malfunctioning!

Hello,

Please check out the Recommended Extensions program.

Also, some issues may arise because of several extensions interfering with each other. It's hard to predict such issues, so please make sure to report them to the add-on developers (through the add-on homepages).

Hi Denys, I was not aware of that, thanks for letting me know. The only problem I see, is that there's at least half a million extensions out of there, and this list of recommended only includes a hundread. So it's a great list to have in general, but hardly helpful if I am looking into anything specific.

Extensions designed to remove or modify elements of pages, such as content blockers, will break some sites. There are quite a few websites, so this isn't something Mozilla can test before approving an extension. You often can use an extension's toolbar button to turn it off on that site if you suspect it is the culprit. You may want to pin their button to the main part of the toolbar for easy access in the early days. (Manage your extensions using the extensions button in the toolbar) Note that you probably need to reload the page (Ctrl+R) after turning off the content blocker so the page can load normally.
