Unable to import profile in TB128.0.1esr

more options

Win10 64-bit TB 128.0.1esr

Attempting to import profile from previous 128.0.1esr version, Tools -> Import... . - Import profile from path (/.../Roaming/Thunderbird/Profiles) fails with "Import failed unexpectedly, more information may be available in the Error Console." -Import profile from zip file (/.../Thunderbird_profile_backup.zip) fails with "Import failed unexpectedly, more information may be available in the Error Console."

Where is the Error Console?

I have tried doing this for the last couple of days with no success. Is there any way to import all data from another Thunderbird installation? This used to work in previous installations.

Where is the Error Console?

Ctrl+Shift+J will get you there, or use the menu. ☰> Tools < developer tools > and click in the console tab in the windows that opens.

Note the Ctrl+Shift+J opens only the console part.

Thanks @Matt

I tried to import from a Profile Folder and from a zip file running TB as an administrator. All attempts failed with the same message as I posted. The output from the Error Console is given below. The first posting is when I attempted to import from a Profile Folder, the zip is when I tried to import everything from a zip file, the zip address book/calendar is when I attempted to import only the address book and calendar from a zip file.

One of the things that is puzzling is that during a Profile Folder import, the output messages indicates an attempt to import from a zip file.

I don't know how to proceed. Is this an error on my part?
