Only sending emails to 9 of the 12 in a group

I have many "Groups" of emails. One group I just made has 12 people, yet some were complaining they weren't receiving emails from me when I emailed the group (but yes, I was getting each single back and forth email). Sure enough I looked at the sent and only 9 emails are listed. So it's not emailing three of the people. Quadruple checked, everything in the list seems fine. (no spaces before or after the email address)

Looked at the source SENT message in gmail too, sure enough, only 9 were emailed.

Any thoughts?

When you created the 'group' (mailing list), did you first add the contacts to an address book, then create the mailing list in the address book, then drag the contacts from the address book onto the list icon, in order to add them to the list? In other words, are all 12 contacts in the address book under which the list was created, i.e. not some are and some were typed directly into the list? Just trying to see what's different about the missing 3.
