When I forward an email weird characters get added in weird places. They can be after a sentence or in the details of the previous senders info. they look like this...

These characters don't show up on my sent mail at all. Only on the receivers email. The receiver has forwarded back to me to show me the strange characters.

I have changed my email password and have uninstalled and reinstalled Thunderbird. I have the newest version 52.5.2

Is the character encoding used in your sent mail UNICODE. It is on the format menu on the compose window. The usual cause is mail being send using something other than unicode, or a form being specified other that a unicode font. Arial is one such that many people used for email which is not unicode compatible.

I have this issue as well and have read and tried all of the suggestions that I could find in this forum - simply put Thunderbird has a major bug somewhere.

I've removed Thunderbird, reinstalled, cleaned the registry, reset to defaults, set the coding as people have suggested... nothing works. Super frustrated.

I even loaded Thunderbird on a BRAND NEW laptop and had the same issue!

Thunderbird has a bug somewhere and we need it fixed or it will go the way of the dodo bird.
