I try to surf as secure and privacy-safe possible, using Firefox, not remembering history and cookies, using noscript and disconnect and some more settings. To keep it usable, I use the FF password manager with a master password. Chrome I use for all facebook and google stuff only.

But, there are much more security enhancing configurations, settings and scripts. Some overlapping, some depending your wishes. Nice articles can be found everywhere, I like e.g. BestVPN article like https://www.bestvpn.com/recommended-firefox-security-extensions/. To me, as a software engineer, this is already very time consuming to find it all out. If it is already confusing and time consuming to me, then 'normal' users will be totally lost.

Could Mozilla help people out with making browsing as secure as possible within their needs? For example a pre-packaged version of Firefox with non-overlapping plugins. Or a question/answer way of installation, or something else. When I tell my friends what I did, and how I use it, they look at me like I'm a weirdo (yes I am). But it is all just too complex for people.

That would be nice. You would have to find a Developer I think. To custom like you want would be for very few people and the sites that they go to might not except that. Thus we would have to be paid instead of volunteer for this. See what's here https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/desktop/trust/ Your best thing is to just keep reading. Since running Linux that is another obstetrical. See if find anything new off of here :

https://vikingvpn.com/cybersecurity-wiki/browser-security/guide-hardening-mozilla-firefox-for-privacy-and-security

Also the developers of Extensions would have to charge for all the work involved. Sorry Linux is not me so can not help you more and nothing more I have found

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.
