I HAVE To remove this stupid update, I had DO NOT UPDATE checked and have kept a firefox page open all day long, then flash freezes and closes all pages and the damn thing still updated and i am beyond livid because i can not use any of the sites i go to. Pogo has had banners of this issue and i asked earlier to day what did i have to do to make sure i did not get this update, i was told to change setting, which i had already done BUT it updated anyways. Also I can not use my jokersupdates or my cbs.com to watch live feeds of Big Brother. you have no idea how angry i am right now. I have gotten all my friends and people on Pogo to use firefox and i had warned them all not to do update, i guess now i have figured out why NONE Of them were in pogo this morning!!!!! ok i will shut up and post this but I AM NOT HAPPY!!!!!

I apologize, that link was too old, Try going here Install an older version of Firefox

You will find warnings about reverting to older versions of FF but if you scroll down to where it says "I still want to downgrade — where can I get the previous version?", you'll find the link to "Firefox 39.0.3 (US English)" which is the latest version prior to the current FF version 40.0.

If you don't know what your previous version was then there is no way to know what that version was. If you haven't been updating FF for some time this is frankly not recommended at all because you are increasing your security risks by remaining with relatively old versions.

I had assumed that you don't want to be using FF version 40.0 and wanted to return back to the previous version 39, but I sent you to the wrong link before.

This link above will also provide you will all previous versions if you click on either the "website" link or the "Directory of other versions and languages" link. But again, if you don't know what version you were using before this won't be of help.

I would suggest you try the version 39 if you don't want the current version 40 since version 40 had some major changes and if something is not working now with version 40 then most likely version 39 will work for you.

That said, why is it that you don't want to use the current version of FF?

I ask this because it's always best to keep up to date with the most current version. That said, I understand why you might want to remain with version 39.0.3 over 40.0 for now because there could be some issues with the version 40.0 since it has some relatively major changes compared to version 39.0.3. I would add however if you're using WIN10 at some point then you'll want to eventually go to FF version 40 for added compatability.

If I understand you correctly you want to return to the previous version of Firefox instead of the current version 40. If so then take a look at this link How do I revert my Firefox back to the previous version?

ok that post sent me to another post that is 3 years old, i do not want to go back that far. also i really don't know what version i had and also what version was just downloaded.

it has for BACK THEN current release version 3.6.13, Do i need to go back 3 years for the the version that just changed 8.11.15? That one says to take it back to 3.6.13 version.

i have about 500 people i am going to have to explain this to and if i can't figure it out they won't be able to understand it either.

You would need to click on the link "Firefox 39.0.3 (US English)", which will bring up the installer for this version of FF (assuming you want the "English" language version)

You might want to take a look at more details regarding Go back to an old version of Firefox < click on this link which offers a much more details explanation regarding returning to older versions.

It would appear in this article that you will need to uninstall the current version you have and it is recommended to backup you profile.

The way I've uninstalled using Windows is by going to the Control Panel and selecting "Programs and Features" (this is for WIN7, other Windows OS may call it something a little different) where you can select Firefox from the list and uninstall. I've found that my profile remained intact when I installed a current version, not sure if this would be the case using an older version however.

I swear that Firefox is the Greatest browser for they type of internet that we have, it is done on radio waves up and down the lake because we are so rural. But also because it is the most secure of browsers, apparently older founded browsers seem to be compromised more viciously than Firefox.

I play tons of Pogo.com since I have become disabled. They have had a banner at the top of their pages this morning saying " We apologize - we're currently experiencing problems with Firefox launching some of your games. Click Here to learn more." It then directs you to the news page and how a list of over 50 games will not work because of (my interpretation) evil Firefox.

The only reason I figure the issue is because apparently they do not have the proper technical help in their IT department, they apparently do not prepare for security updates from other indemnities that games are played on. They have issues with Java, Flash and Chrome. Chrome has since stopped supporting Pogo IT issues. I figure it is just inadequate technicians. I still have major issues of Flash freezing on me all the time and I have to make about 5 to 10 crash reports a day. But once again I blame Pogo because it is the only site that i have issues with Flash.

Now also I went to Jokersupdates.com and it also would not load. being I could not get Big Brother updates and do chat. Also I went to CBS.com to watch the Big Brother live feeds and that too just would never load. I went to IE and it worked but I do not want to risk compromising my computer, so i just got out of it. I only keep IE to make sure it is not Firefox with issues so i can argue with Pogo help about how they need to fix the issue and stop blaming everyone else lol.

I have also gotten where I do recommend people I know and met to go to Firefox. I do explain to them the benefits of using it and also that it is a more secure site. I do think too many long time older sites have not changed much of their ways and they make it easier for hackers/trackers/trolls/virus, worm, trojan creators and anything else evil to the internet easier access to peoples computers.

I rarely have issues with Firefox but when I do I find out what it is through here. So far it has exceed expectations. I also help seniors learn to use the computer and apparently Firefox is easier for them to use. I have created some internet monsters hahaha. But I love getting them discarded computers and updating them for the Seniors to use. I try to educate them and let them know that computers are our friends and it keeps them busy and they aren't as lonely.

Okay I am done babbling, sorry I do that with the pain meds.

Thank you for your help and for being so quick in the response!!!

OK, you basically have two choices now that I know more what the problem is which is that pogo.com is currently incompatible with the new 40.0 release of Firefox. If you continue on with further links they provide you'll find the following "Firefox released an update to their browser on Tuesday August 11th, 2015". This happens to be Firefox version 40.0 that was released as of that date (which I updated today and got an error myself which I had to uninstall and install over again for the browser to work). As to video feeds, if they involve Shock wave Flash then they will tend to be blocked by Firefox now for security reasons, usually what you'll get is a banner at the top where if you click on "Allow" in the right side of the banner Firefox asks you if you want to play the video either "now now" or "Allow and Remember".

So as to your two choices.

1) You can wait until Pogo.com updates their website to accommodate the new version (40.0) of Firefox.

2) You can uninstall your current version, which must be Firefox version 40.0 because this version was released yesterday 8/11/15 and is the date Pogo.com is referencing and then install the previous Firefox version 39.0.3 using the link in the webpage provided in a previous post in this topic. (I explained above how to uninstall)
