I have installed Thunderbird on Linux on a chromebook. When I try to add my (gmail) email account in the Thunderbird account setup screen, it hangs up trying to authenticate the Google password for the gmail account. I have scrupulously checked and rechecked the password and the server details, and they are all correct. Why won't Thunderbird accept the password for my gmail account? Or is something else not right?

I set up thunderbird exactly the same as on my old computer -- i cannot retrieve my emails on the new computer even though the test connection was successful - but i get a pop-up saying autentication failed when i try to get my emails on my new computer, Old computer still gets them

I keep getting "authentication error" when adding a new email account with Infomaniak, even when I use the app generated password. I am not having this problem with Outlook. I cannot disable Account Hub (1 suggested solution) in Thunderbird 157. what to do?

At one time, I was able to access my email with Thunderbird. Then Thunderbird stopped working, and I didn't have time to research why. Monday, I bought a new Macbook. After installation, Thunderbird says "account settings found." Then it asks for a password. My password no longer works. Instead, I get a message: "Authentication failed. Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username or password." What, if anything, can I do?

Since updating to TB 153esr from the previous esr, I occasionally get a server authentication error with imap.gmail.com. Most often they happen when first starting up, but occasionally seem to happen at other times. They seem to be transient as gmail works fine otherwise.

Just wondering if this is a known bug?

I have been having all my email transferred from Yahoo mail for more than a decade, it used to be Frontier net, and i didnt want to change my email, and i havent, so i transfered it on 3 devices because i am very used to the thunderbird format. It still works on my android phone and my HP laptop, but thunderbird will not allow me to sign in to yahoo mail on my PC which is what we use the most for our email, for some reason yahoo made some changes and required a new sign in so i did that on the other 2 devices, however, when the sign in box from yahoo pops up on our PC it always says " OOPS something went wrong" and i called yahoo and they verified it was not them. Which leaves Thunderbird to fix the problem. Please address this as i still Do Not want to change my email address or the Thunderbird Mail which we are used to. Some things are okay just as they are, so i would like some help from your end. Thank you, Richard Sessums.

Security Settings are as follows for the above

Connection security : SSL/TLS

Authentication method : Normal password

I have went under passwords and I have edited the password I have changed it three times I have edited it three times I am about ready to pull my hair out what is the secret to getting these new passwords to work. My setup is Windows 11 Home 24H2 on HP ENVY core i7 Thunderbird 64 bit ver 157.0 updated from 156.?? while chasing this issue. Some time after 08:00 EDT 9/28/26 Spectrum/Charter altered sign-in process, their tech support has been able to fix most customers by changing password on individual accounts. This does not seem to work for Thunderbird accounts. Any attempt to download from my roadrunner inbox attempts for over 60 seconds then fails. Attempts to send from my Thunderbird fails with SMTP server error 10060. Attempts to download from my roadrunner inbox fails with same error 10060 from POP server 47.43.26.4 on port 110 and port 995. My email account is handled by a university that uses Office 365-based Microsoft system for email accounts. My institution now requires that email client programs us MS Graph for authentication. Does Thunderbird 156.0.1 have this capability?

I was having trouble with Thunderbird outgoing mail. I changed some settings and it still didn't work. I tried to log in to Thunderbird and now cannot log in at all. I have 25 years worth of email in this account!

Repeated attempts to log in using the window presented continue to fail. My password is correct and I am able to log in on the spectrum website without problems. I have two email accounts in TB ; one with Outlook.com and the other with Charter.net. The Outlook account logs in without problem but the charter account continues to give me the message that the login failed (image attached). When I go too the account server settings in TB for charter and do a test connection under security settings, a connection is made without a problem (image attached).

I believe the previous version (156.0) was working but there seems to be a rapid succession of changes coming down the pike lately. I have had intermittent problems of this nature in the past 4 or 5 months so it's difficult to keep track of which versions are successful.

Help please. I am not thrilled with spectrum but I do not want to change my email address.

There is apparently a bug in the latest release of Thunderbird, which has broken the callbacks for Yahoo! IMAP email using OAuth. Potentially, it may actually be a problem with Yahoo!, and how https://api.login.yahoo.com is attempting to reopen Thunderbird after logging in, as the process has changed. I've already reverted back to the ESR Thunderbird channel once, but on a recent update the issue was reintroduced. Screenshots are included.
