I am using Firefox 3.6.12 and it won't allow me to store any bookmarks and I can't go back. Any idea if there is a problem with the settings?

This problem suddenly started happening, it wasn't when I installed an update of Firefox. I can use other search engines ok (safari etc.) I have also unistalled Firefox then re-installed and the same problem still occurs.

This can be a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.
